Dr. Madhavan is a renowned interventional cardiologist with 23 years of experience and currently serves as the Managing Director of Interventional Cardiology at his own institution, “DR MADHAVAN’S HEART CENTRE”. He has made significant contributions to the field of interventional cardiology and has played a pivotal role in establishing the cardiac catheter lab at Apollo Hospitals in Madurai, South India. The lab initially catered to a population of over 20 million people and has successfully completed over 20,000 invasive procedures under Dr. Madhavan’s leadership.
Dr. Madhavan is known for his particular area of interest in intravascular imaging and rotational atherectomy, which he uses to address challenging percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) cases.
Dr. Madhavan’s exceptional skills and expertise have been recognized worldwide. He had the privilege of conducting a research project with the distinguished cardiologist and Nobel laureate, Dr. Bernard Lown, based in Boston. Their study, known as MAPCHES, focused on analyzing the health of 1500 physicians. The findings of the study were presented at the World Congress of Cardiology held in Buenos Aires on May 21, 2008, and were subsequently published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology in May 2009 (volume 25, issue 5, pages 303-308).
Dr. Madhavan’s ultimate motive and goal are to ensure that “NO ONE SHOULD DIE OF A PREVENTABLE DISEASE”. His passion for the field and unwavering dedication to saving lives have earned him a place of high esteem in the medical community.
